Applied Research ProjectsThe KCDC is seeking to develop a dedicated research fund to underwrite studies by faculty from our affiliated academic programs and, where appropriate, a national base of scholars and experts. Funded projects will focus on the history, present condition, and future development potential of Kansas City’s built environment. Areas of eligible support will include historic and contemporary research that documents the city’s physical fabric, speculative studies and urban design proposals, and studies related to public leadership and effective policies for sound urban design. All funded proposals will undergo a rigorous evaluation by KCDC staff and our Academic Affairs committee, which will consider the applicant’s credentials, the relevance of the proposed project to the KCDC’s core mission, and the potential impact of the work on local decision-making. Proposals will be evaluated in terms of their potential to make a significant contribution to public understanding of critical issues confronting the region’s built and natural environments, with a special emphasis on issues facing the urban core. All supported projects will be required to include a dissemination component, which may be in the form of a paper or manuscript, exhibit, or other presentation. We expect our Design Briefs series to serve as the primary vehicle for publication of research findings. | ||||
