architecture + cityscape:
urban ambitions and city design
The purpose of the KCDC's annual lecture series is to engage the public in a civic dialogue - a many-ways conversation - that enables us to deliberate, disagree, and build consensus on crucial questions relating to the physical form, social character, and quality of our built environment.
During 2003, through a collaboration with AIA-Kansas City, we are undertaking a series of explorations to help the public, practitioners and decision makers better understand the dynamics and importance of a quality urban public realm. Specifically, our lectures will focus on how design and reflection on design shape public expectations and satisfaction with the experience and vitality of urban life.
The series will consist of three lectures, plus a moderated roundtable of nationally-prominent architectural critics.
