About CityScapes

The KCDC is pleased to present CityScapesTM, an online visual resource database of imagery and information relating to Kansas City's built environment.

The KCDC has developed CityScapes in collaboration with the Kansas Digital Library, Kansas University Medical Center Library, and the Kansas University Medical Center Internet Development Unit (which hosts our website).

The primary content for the database is a digital collection of selected aerial photographs created by 2002 Resident Design Fellow Alex S. MacLean.

Over time, we expect CityScapes to become the authoritative place-based inventory of Kansas City's built environment, including imagery and documentation such as architectural drawings, concept plans, maps, and archival photographs.

Our ultimate goal is to make visual imagery and information available for use in education, research and leadership initiatives with the potential to improve public and private decision-making.
