Friday, February 20, 2004
5:30 p.m. reception; 6:30 p.m. discussion;
exhibit open until 10:00 p.m.

Paragraph Gallery, 25 East 12th St.
Kansas City, Mo.

Paragraph and KCDC have assembled a roundtable of advocates for progressive development to participate in this provocative and timely discussion.

In recent years, Kansas City’s downtown has witnessed a dramatic resurgence of economic development. Recent development proposals have prompted varied reactions and diverse perspectives regarding the revitalization of the urban core. Kansas City is at an ideal time to cultivate formal discussion of the role of social and aesthetic forces in urban development and to promote progressive initiatives for Kansas City’s urban future.

Moderator: Daniel Serda, Director of the Kansas City Design Center.
May Tveit, artist
James Woodfill, artist
Mark Shapiro, architect
David Dowell, architect
Gina Kaufmann, Pitch Weekly
Michael Frisch, urban planner

The springboard for this roundtable is the exhibit Fantasies + Revivals, which features architectural and urban design proposals for downtown Kansas City by artists, architects, and academic design studios. The roundtable is one in a series of continued programs related to the revitalization of Kansas City’s urban core.
