KCDC Leadership Initiatives

The KCDC is a civic organization dedicated to fostering public awareness of the city’s built environment and the importance of good urban design. In addition to our education and research programs, we routinely monitor the planning and development processes to identify issues of critical importance to the quality, character and vitality of Kansas City's public realm.

Our leadership initiatives bring the insights of nationally-recognized experts, along with the intellectual energy of our regional public universities, to bear in evaluating the future development of Kansas City’s built environment.

In each of our leadership initiatives, the KCDC works to ensure that the public interest is thoroughly considered in decisions relating to urban design and the quality of the public realm. By providing perspective and expertise on urban design, the KCDC contributes to more effective planning processes and public policies aimed at strengthening the physical fabric of Kansas City.

We see our leadership initiatives as the key means to achieving one of our primary goals: improving the quality of decision-making to fashion a stronger public realm.
