Crossroads Art DistrictKSU ADS 7-8, Fall 2002/Spring 2003 Led by Professor Madlen Simon, fifth-year Kansas State architecture student developed urban design concepts for the Crossroads Arts District in Downtown Kansas City, Missouri. In consultation with a client group, including artists, developers, gallery-owners, and neighborhood activists, the students prepared conceptual designs for arts and cultural facilities, as well as urban design proposals for the Crossroads itself. The studio placed a primary focus of the studio on the impact of the new Performing Arts Center on the entrepreneur-led revitalization between Downtown and Union Station. During the spring semester, the students prepared conceptual space programs and designed a prototype facility for the Kansas City Ballet. | ||||
