Prospect North

Independence-18th Street

The Urban Concept for Prospect North focuses on redefining the area as an urban whole. In the past, there were nodes of activity on Independence and Truman that held together a vibrant neighborhood between. Our concept involves re-centering this area around Prospect through connecting, green infrastructure, and development. Building upon the African American history of the area and the strength of the 18th and Vine district, we envision this area as a new cultural space celebrating it’s background of Jazz, Negro Leagues Baseball, and culture. This area is defined as three urban sections which are linked together by Prospect. Ideally through development and design these three sections become an urban whole and reconnect this new cultural district.
