Assistant Professor - Department of Landscape Architecture and Regional & Community Planning, Kansas State University

Sara Hadavi holds a Ph.D. (2015) in Landscape Architecture from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, an MLA (2019) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a Master of Environmental Design (2004) from the University of Tehran. She teaches graduate-level design studios on urban vacancy, quality of life, and equity. In her research, she explores people's needs and preferences that can be addressed through planning and design to create restorative and supportive environments in urban areas. Her most recent research project examined the spatial and social outcomes of vacant lot greening programs including visual quality, community empowerment, and crime reduction in vulnerable communities.
